Sculptra at DermAttract — a gradual approach to collagen and firmer-looking skin

Like the idea of a refreshed appearance, with changes that develop gradually? Meet Sculptra.

Now available at DermAttract in Reigate, Sculptra works by stimulating your skin’s own collagen production. It takes patience, but for suitable patients, that gradual approach is part of the appeal.[1,2]

Here’s what you need to know — without the science lecture.

A little collagen conversation

Think of collagen as part of your skin’s supporting framework. It helps give skin its structure. As that support changes with age, you may notice changes in facial fullness and the appearance of lines.

Sculptra contains poly-L-lactic acid, or PLLA, which encourages new collagen formation. You may hear it called a “collagen biostimulator”. In plain English, it stimulates your body to build collagen over time.[1,2]

The appeal is in the gradual change

Sculptra is an option for people who are comfortable waiting for their results to develop. Depending on your needs, treatment may help soften facial wrinkles and improve the appearance of lost volume.[1,2]

At DermAttract, we start with the result you would like to achieve. Perhaps you have noticed less fullness in your cheeks, or facial lines that you would like to soften. We will talk through what Sculptra could realistically offer and whether it fits your goals.

Our aim is a considered treatment plan that suits your face.

The science bit — we’ll keep it short

There is clinical research behind Sculptra.

In a randomised study published in 2024, around 72% of treated participants assessed at 12 months had a measurable improvement in cheek wrinkles, compared with around 26% of those who had no treatment. Improvement meant at least a one-grade change on a cheek-wrinkle scale on both cheeks.[3]

That is encouraging evidence for cheek wrinkles. It does not predict exactly how your skin will respond, but it gives us something more useful than social media hype to discuss at your consultation.

When does the change happen?

Collagen takes time to develop. Some people begin noticing changes from around a month, with improvement building over the following months.[2]

A course often involves two or three appointments, although the number of sessions and amount of product depend on your individual needs.[2]

We will explain the likely timeline before you start, so you know what to expect at each stage.

And how long can results last?

Manufacturer information reports facial results lasting up to around two years, although individual results and maintenance needs vary.[1,2]

It is a longer-term approach, so your consultation is a good opportunity to discuss how treatment could fit into your plans.

Curious whether Sculptra is for you?

You do not need to arrive knowing how many sessions you want, or even whether Sculptra is the right treatment. That is what the consultation is for.

At DermAttract, we will assess your skin and facial structure, discuss your medical history and talk through your options. We will also explain aftercare and answer your questions, so you can make an informed decision.

Sculptra is a medical aesthetic treatment and is not suitable for everyone. All injectable treatments carry risks, which we will discuss at consultation. Results vary.
