What I’m Saying No To in Aesthetics This Year (And Why)

Let’s get one thing out of the way: Aesthetics isn’t about doing everything that's available.
In fact, some of the best results we see come from the treatments I don’t do.
Every year, there are new trends, new techniques and new “must-have” treatments. Some are brilliant. Some are… not for everyone. And part of our job is knowing the difference.
So here’s what we are happily saying no to this year — and what I focus on instead.
1. Using Filler to Fix Everything
Dermal filler gets blamed for a lot — mostly because it’s often used for the wrong reasons.
Filler isn’t a magic lifting treatment, and it’s definitely not meant to be placed everywhere “just in case”. When it’s overused, faces can start to look heavy, puffy or less like themselves.
What we do instead
Careful facial assessment
Conservative filler only where it genuinely adds structure or balance
Focusing on skin quality and facial movement first
Sometimes the best result comes from doing less — and that’s completely intentional.
2. Chasing Trends Instead of Treating Faces
Aesthetic trends move fast. Faces don’t.
What looks great on social media doesn’t always translate well in real life — or in the long term. Trends rarely consider anatomy, ageing patterns or individual skin types.
What we do instead
Personalised treatment plans
Long-term thinking rather than “quick fixes”
Honest conversations about what will and won’t suit your face
Good aesthetics shouldn’t look trendy — they should look timeless.
3. Treating Skin, Lines and Volume as the Same Thing
This is one of the most common misunderstandings I see.
Fine lines, volume loss and poor skin quality are three different concerns — but they’re often treated as one.
Here’s how we approach it:
Botox for movement-related lines
Polynucleotides, Sunekos and Profhilo, medical-grade skincare for skin quality, hydration and repair
Microneedling for texture, pores and collagen stimulation
Dermal filler only where true volume or support is needed
When each concern is treated properly, results look natural — without trying.
4. Over-Aggressive Treatments for Pigment-Prone Skin
More intensity doesn’t always mean better results — especially in skin prone to pigmentation.
Over-treating the skin can lead to irritation, inflammation and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, which no one wants.
What we do instead
Skin-barrier first approaches
Gradual, thoughtful treatment plans
Skin-repair treatments like polynucleotides, Sunekos and microneedling that support healing rather than overwhelm the skin
Healthy skin is built slowly — and it’s worth the patience.
5. Rushing Results
Most aesthetic regret comes from doing too much, too quickly.
Ageing is gradual. Good aesthetic work should be too.
What we do instead
Phased treatment plans
Realistic timelines
Under-promising and over-delivering
If you leave clinic looking refreshed rather than “done”, that’s exactly the point.
So What Do We Say Yes To?
✔ Botox that still lets your face move
✔ Dermal filler used thoughtfully and conservatively
✔ Skin treatments that improve quality, not just appearance
✔ Polynucleotides, Sunekos and Profhilo for long-term skin health
✔ Microneedling where texture and collagen need support
✔ Patients who value trust over trends
And yes — sometimes the best treatment is no treatment at all.
Final Thoughts
Aesthetics isn’t about doing everything. It's about doing the right things, at the right time, for your face and skin.
If you’re looking for quick fixes, this approach might not be for you. If you’re looking for natural, considered, long-term results — we’ll get on just fine.
A consultation is always the best place to start.
